A wildfire sparked by lightning had burned 260 acres in Dinosaur National Monument by Monday afternoon. Lightning struck a tree Friday, according to spokesman Dan Johnson, who added that the fire flared up Sunday because of wind and dry conditions. The most active area of the fire is on the north side, in the monument, and is burning in a steep canyon full of timber, Johnson said. The perimeter of the fire extends into Jensen and Colorado, he said. Crews closed the Canyon Overlook to use it as... <iframe src="http://www.sltrib.com/csp/mediapool/sites/sltrib/pages/garss.csp" height="1" width="1" > </frame>

Two people were killed Sunday afternoon on Duchesne County’s State Route 87 near Ioka. Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Evan Kirby said the 4:36 p.m. head-on collision killed the drivers of a 1995 Chrysler and a 2008 Hyundai sedan. Two passengers in the Chrysler and four in the Hyundai survived the crash, Kirby said. But there was no information Monday regarding their injuries. According to the UHP, the eastbound Chrysler suddenly drove across the center line, colliding with the westbound Hyundai. <iframe src="http://www.sltrib.com/csp/mediapool/sites/sltrib/pages/garss.csp" height="1" width="1" > </frame>

Even before J. Frederic Voros Jr. and Stephen Roth were appointed to the Utah Court of Appeals, they were well-known and well-respected by members of the judiciary. Voros, who served for years as chief of the criminal appeals division in the Utah Attorney General’s Office, frequently argued in court for the state. Decisions handed down by Roth, a 3rd District Court judge, sometimes came before the appellate judges on appeal. “Both came to the court with their reputations preceding them,” Court ... <iframe src="http://www.sltrib.com/csp/mediapool/sites/sltrib/pages/garss.csp" height="1" width="1" > </frame>
